Ingredients:
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups whole milk
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
1 (4.5 oz) jar dried beef, rinsed and chopped
4 slices toast (white, wheat, or sourdough)
Fresh parsley (for garnish, optional)
Directions:
1. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to form a roux.
2. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and comes to a gentle simmer.
3. Stir in the black pepper and garlic powder (if using). Add the chopped dried beef and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until heated through.
4. Toast the bread slices until golden brown.
5. Spoon the creamed chipped beef over the toast. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
