Ingredients:
– 12 San Giorgio lasagna noodles
– 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage
– 1 jar (24 oz) marinara or spaghetti sauce
– 1 cup water
– 15 oz ricotta cheese
– 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
– 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
– 1 large egg
– 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
– 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
– Salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
2. Cook the San Giorgio lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
3. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef or Italian sausage over medium heat until browned. Drain excess grease and stir in the marinara sauce and water. Simmer for 5 minutes.
4. In a medium bowl, mix ricotta cheese, 1 cup of mozzarella, Parmesan, egg, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
5. Spread 1 cup of the meat sauce in the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Layer 3 cooked noodles over the sauce.
6. Spread 1/3 of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by 1 cup of meat sauce. Repeat the layers two more times, finishing with the remaining noodles and meat sauce. Top with the remaining mozzarella cheese.
7. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
8. Let the lasagna cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
